Will Pet CBD Work For Pet Stress?

Many pet owners are turning to the wellness benefits of pet CBD in order to help their furry friends be more comfortable in life. There is quite a bit of anecdotal evidence that suggests that giving pets CBD will help them to become calmer and more comfortable. Although science still has a lot to learn about how CBD interacts with the brain, there is plenty of promising information out there that points towards CBD being a favorable element. As for it being effective for the treatment of stress in pets…keep reading and see what you think.

What is CBD?

As popular as the cannabinoid is, many people are still clueless about exactly what CBD is. The only simple answer is that CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a cannabinoid that is present within the cannabis plant, and all of the plants that stem from the cannabis genus of plants. Although CBD is a lot like its cousin, THC, it is not the same and the two are not connected. There is no THC in CBD and there is no CBD in THC. They are both free-standing cannabinoids that offer different effects.

Cannabinoids are believed to be part of the system within the plant that keeps it healthy and alive. Although there is no solid proof for any reason in particular that cannabinoids exist in the plant, researchers have drawn to the conclusion that cannabinoids are similar to terpenes in the sense they offer natural protection from pests, and help to attract bees for pollination.

Cannabinoids and the Endocannabinoid System

Every living being that has a spine has an endocannabinoid system. The way that this system works is pretty complicated, but scientists have a general idea of how cannabinoids found in the cannabis plants interact with the human body.

We discussed cannabinoids that are in cannabis plants earlier, but now we will address a different kind of cannabinoid known as the endo-cannabinoid.

It turns out that humans and animals produce compounds in the body that are very similar to cannabinoids. In fact, the cannabinoids that are in plants are able to communicate with the endocannabinoid systems within our own bodies as if they were one and the same.

The endocannabinoids that we produce communicate with the rest of the body through receptors that are connected throughout the endocannabinoid system. These self-made cannabinoids communicate with the receptors and give signals in order to maintain the state of homeostasis that we all need to be in balance.

What this means is that cannabinoids like THC and CBD have the ability to communicate with our systems and help to make changes within the chemistry of our bodies and in the way that our brains act in order to keep us in balance. The endocannabinoid system controls things like body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and metabolism. Researchers are looking for a solid proof that CBD helps to maintain a calm and relaxing state for the beings that use it.

Does CBD Work for Pets?

The thing about cannabinoids is that they can act differently from being to being. In some dogs, cats, or humans CBD for pets could be perfectly safe and effective for a number of things, but for others, it could cause problems. It all depends on the pet, on what medications that the pet is taking at the time, and many other factors such as age, health, and so on.

Over years literally millions of pet owners have given their pets CBD without having any issues at all. Many of these pet owners claimed that when they give their pets CBD it helped them with stress and discomfort. What it all boils down to is the specifics of the pet. The best way to get answers is to ask a veterinarian and see what they have to say.
