Atrial Fibrillation Treatment

It is one of the problems of heart or arrhythmia rhythm disorder due to an irregular heartbeat. Atrial Fibrillation occurs in any person because this problem is connected with the electrical activity of the heart which can cause mild for severe symptoms such as dizziness or fatigue, and palpitations. But some of the people feel no symptoms due to Atrial Fibrillation. Due to this atrial fibrillation, increases the major risk of stroke, and getting it properly diagnosed and treated is very important.

Give a look to a short video in which Dr. Syed Ahsan, a leading London cardiologist, treats a large number of affected people who are suffering from heart-related conditions and symptoms such as atrial fibrillation.

Treatment of atrial fibrillation

Some of the techniques which are used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation are as given below:

Electrical cardioversion

There is electrical cardioversion that is helpful in atrial fibrillation treatment. This procedure involved delivering a small electrical shock for the treatment of atrial fibrillation by restoring the heart to a normal rhythm. This treatment is also done through pads on the chest. This technique is very safe and fast which takes a few minutes. It is a long-term procedure in the treatment of atrial fibrillation.

Pacemaker

Pacemakers is a small implanted device, which is placed in the chest that helps in control abnormal rhythms and maintain the heartbeat by using electrical impulses for heartbeat at a normal rate immediately.

Medication

Some of the drugs are available in lowering the risk of stroke and help in controlling the Atrial Fibrillation. Generally, medicines are used in atrial fibrillation treatment. During medication, if you feel any side-effects then it is important for discussing with your doctor before stopping the medicines.

Catheter Ablation

A catheter ablation is a negligibly invasive surgical process that can massively improve the symptoms of atrial fibrillation. This technique is helpful for those patients who are suffering from severe symptoms of atrial fibrillation if medicines are not effective or beneficial. Catheter ablation is one of the procedures in which passing a very fine catheter (wires) via vein which is placed from at the top of the leg into the heart.

After that electrodes are connected with the tip of the wires which are used in measuring electrical signals inside the heart and also identify affected areas.  This procedure can be performed by using a general anesthetic or local anesthetic with sedation.

Catheter ablation is one of the fastest procedures in which normally patients can go home on the same day or the next morning. The success rate of this procedure is about 60 to 90 percent which depends on the severity of the atrial ablation. Some of the patients may need more than one procedure to be performed during treatment.

Cryoballoon

Cryoballoon is another option in the atrial fibrillation treatment which is performed in a similar as compared with catheter ablation but rather than delivering heat. This technology uses a freezing balloon for preventing the signals which trigger atrial fibrillation by entering the heart.

If you are suffering from the problem of atrial fibrillation then there are some of the procedures used in the treatment of atrial fibrillation which is discussed in this blog.
